Birling Gap Birling Gap, East Dean (between Seaford and Eastbourne)

This beach is gorgeous with the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs and pockets of sandy bits for sand castles. When the tide is out there are also rock pools and more sandy bits! Ideal for a great beach day out.

There is parking, a hotel with a café/tea room and an ice cream kiosk plus toilets behind the hotel. There are steep steps leading down to the enclosed pebble beach.

There is a lovely cliff side walk up to beachy head, but beware the cliff edges! Absolutely breath-taking scenery - very pretty and idyllic.

From Brighton, take the A27 towards Lewes and then the A26 towards Newhaven. Then take the A259 towards Eastbourne and as you pass Friston, on the A259 you will go down a hill and you take the right hand turn at the bottom, before the hill rises again (signposted Birling Gap).

This extremely well used seafront play area is situated just off the beach on the King's Road that runs along the promenade. It is very well equipped for pre-school children to have fun and play within a fenced area so they don't have to come into dangerous contact with the sea or the nearby road.
