Bramber
Castle Bramber Village, West Sussex
A delightful setting - ruins and old moat to
explore.
There is a small car park next to the
castle, but there is a set of steep steps up
to the castle which make disabled and pushchair
access difficult.
Watch out for steep drops round the edge of the castle grounds - take special
care with very young children.

This open-air museum is dedicated
to the industrial heritage of the south-east. The museum
boasts a wide range of exhibits, from transport-based
collections, such as the Southdown bus collection & the
village garage, to industry-based collections, such as the
Print Workshop & Wheelwrights.
The Museum is also home to a number of resident craftspeople, who
work to traditional methods.
"This museum has alot of rustic
charm, is very educational and is in a peaceful rural setting.
The museum 'village' consists of different buildings, some
very old, some modern or reproductions which host various
displays and sometimes artisans at their craft. Most of the
displays feature objects from everyday life in the last century.
There is an extensive look at electricity in one building
with a collection that rivals the Science Museum, a Communication
section where children can enjoy play 'ringing each other
up' on on old dial phones. We learnt how telegrams were
sent and laughed at huge mobile phones and pagers.
There is a narrow guage railway track around the grounds,
we also took a ride on an old open top omnibus.
Loseley Farm Ice Cream at the Cafe went down well as did
the potters wheel and wood-turners demostration. The kids
loved getting their hands dirty making their own clay pots.
We went on a sunny Saturday in August. It seemed surprisingly
quiet, so does not have that stressfull air that some museums
have and is safe enough for kids to run about. There was
a tranquil nature trail too.
We were there for 5 hours, although we did take it slowly,
found it a great value better day out!"
