Summer Activities at Making It! Discover Centere, Littleworth, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

Weds., July 28 - CAKE
Celebrate the start of the school holidays by decorating a 15cm cake with fillings and toppings of your choice  -  cherries, chocolate, jam, cream, icing flowers etc. gift wrapped on a tray.  You will also be making a door hanger for your bedroom. 

Friday July 30 - TOY STORY
Design your own Mr & Mrs Potato Head – create different facial features which can be interchanged between Mr & Mrs Potato Head.

Tuesday August 3 - UP UP AND AWAY
You will be making a hot air balloon basket with Robin Hood characters – help them escape from the Sheriff of Nottingham.  Don’t be late – you will also be going on a hunt around making it! to find treats for Robin Hood to take on his escape.

Chatsworth Country Fair, Chatsworth House, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Derbyshire
Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th September
Gates open at 9.00am, closing ceremony at about 6.30pm.

The Country Fair  is one of England's most spectacular annual outdoor events, held in Chatsworth park, and it attracts large crowds from all over the country. Massed pipe and military bands, demonstrations and parades, hot air balloons, parachuting and over 300 varied trade stands and rural crafts make this a memorable event with something for everyone.

An exciting Grand Ring programme takes place over the weekend, with displays ranging from a vintage car parade to the hot air balloon races and terrier racing. A sporting clay pigeon shoot takes place and the bouncy castle and old time fairground are always popular with children.

Many of England's heritage of Country Sports and pastimes are on show including Armed service displays, horse shoeing, Ferret racing, archery and sheep dog trials.

Midland Kite Flyers, Rufford Country Park, Rufford Abbey and Country Park Near Ollerton, Newark

See kites in action this weekend on the Abbey Lawn at Rufford Abbey and get some flying tips from enthusiasts of the Midland Kite Flyers. Have a go at making your own kite for just £2 a go, or buy a ready made kite from the stall.
